Thank Goodness It’s Friday!

I must say first of all, I’m stiff and aching all over today – Turbo Jam has been making ALL of me move, not just my legs (and boobs!) like running does. Needless to say, I think I’ll give that a break today, even though the thought of doing it sounds so much more fun than exercising any other way.

Er… actually, no I won’t. Being the dork that I am, I just did the 45 minute Cardio Party. And kept up to most of it, except my silly left hand side where I am unco-ordinated. Woohoo! I’m excited! I did it! :)

Food – 2 x toast with marg & veg, green tea, 600ml water w/ diet cordial, green apple, 4x saos with light cheese, cup of boiled rice, chicken & capsicum stir fry. Heading to Jason’s for dinner, so not sure about that yet.

P.S. Very CRANKY this week with the scales – I’ve been so good, back on the daily exercising plan, and I’ve gained another kilogram, if they read correctly. What’s going on?

Little Things

I told you yesterday I recorded my measurements, so I just thought I’d share them with you – the bummer is that the last batch of measurements I had are on record at the gym, but I don’t have them here OR remember them for comparison. Ah well. Maybe in a month’s time, they will have dropped. Hopefully! =)

Thighs – 48-49cm
Upper Arms – 37.5-38cm
Chest – 111cm
Waist – 99cm
Hips – 114cm

(I have a waist! Sort of! Albeit chubby! WAIST! Praise the exercise gods!)

I did Turbo Jam again today – 1 x “Learn” to remember those moves, 2 x “Burn” to practice the workout, and I also attempted “20 Minute Workout”. It was definitely high impact, and I probably won’t attempt that again until I’ve mastered the “Burn”. I have a bit of a stiff twinge in my left knee, I think because I’m not used to all these aerobic moves, so I’m going to walk/jog tomorrow on the treadmill to give it a break.

It’s funny, isn’t it? I can run for 20 minutes straight, but add in a few knee lifts and twists and kicks and I’m pooped! I feel good though. It’ll be good to keep learning the moves though, I think it’s hard catching on at first – they move quite fast.

Food today:
2x toast with marg and vegemite, green tea, green apple, 4x saos with lite cheese and vegemite, 600ml water, bread roll with grilled sausage, lean cuisine lasagne, WW lime cordial, low fat ice cream for desert.

Turbo JAM!

The post you’ve been waiting for – My TurboJam DVDs arrived today, so of course, I HAD to start today and give it a whirl. (You’ll have to excuse me if I go on and on about it from now on, as I incorporate it into my exercise!)

The introductory workout is called the “Learn and Burn”. The “Learn” part is only about 7-8 minutes long, where they teach you the 11 moves. I did that twice, because I wanted to make sure I had them. Then there was the “Burn” part, which is a 17 minute workout with the moves and constant aerobic steps to music, and they also add in punches and kicks and stuff.

I noticed a few things during the workout:

  1. I can’t do a very good ab crunch (they call it a ‘tuck’) – it’s where you basically stand with legs spread, and hips tucked forward so your belly is crunched. The idea is that you keep your abs tucked the entire workout, but I can’t even do it standing still yet, let alone bouncing around like a loon.
  2. I really don’t know my lefts and rights. As in, they all go bounding off in one direction, and I’m usually on the other side of the room.
  3. Same with co-ordination. Am not very co-ordinated at all! With their knee lifts, they did a rowing motion with their arms that matched the lifted side. Me? I automatically rowed to the opposite side of the knee. Argh!!
  4. I want tummies like theirs. Le sigh.
  5. Punching is really, really fun.

All in all, it should be an exhausting workout – I was stuffed after doing just the “Learn and Burn”, and I’ll definitely be continuing that introductory DVD for the first week or so, at least until I master the moves (or learn my directions, haha!)

So fitness – who knows what I actually burned. 2 x 8 minutes of moves, mainly crunches PLUS 2 x 18 minutes of the “Burn” DVD. As long as I record the minutes of exercise into my tracker, I should be right.

Food – 2 x toast for breakfast, 1 green apple, 4 saos with light cheese and vegemite, 2 x green teas (across the day), 1 vanilla light fruche yoghurt, chicken breast sandwich for dinner.

Phew! That was a hefty post. I actually took some measurements today, but since this post is so long, I’ll save them for tomorrow’s update. :)

Just the Usual – with an added favour =)

I’m making a “to do” list to keep me busy since Jase heads off to England in two weeks, and I need your input.

Come check out my blog, read the post and leave me your suggestions! :)

And now onto the healthiness …. exercise first!

20 minute jog = 2.6kms covered = 1.6miles straight
20 minute walk = 2.1kms covered = 1.3miles straight
Total = 40 minutes exercise = 4.7kms covered = 2.9miles total.

Food wise, today has been pretty good…

Green tea, 2 x toast with vegemite
1 green apple, 1 strawberry light fruche yoghurt
1 banana sandwich (2 bread), green tea
Dinner is plain spaghetti with Leggos bolognaise sauce, which smells soooo good.

Monday Weigh-In

I gained 200g.

It could be worse – I mean, that’s like a glass of water or something, but still. I just had the feeling I wasn’t going down this week, turns out I was right.

Grrrrr.

Maybe next Monday!

**UPDATED**

Well, I was disappointed this morning, yes, but I’m relieved that it’s not a massive gain. I’ll just work hard this week to make sure I have a loss by next Monday, is all.

Today I walked for 30 minutes, and ate fairly well – we had our staff development day morning tea though, where I was proud to avoid the cakes, lollies, chips and other naughty foods and stuck to the food I brought with me. Are you proud?

Food – green tea, 2 x toast with marg & jam, 2 x cocktail frankfurts (I know, I know, but it could’ve been worse!), 1 diet fruche yoghurt, white tea, 1 ham and cheese sandwich, small slice of watermelon & rockmelon, lamb chops with potato and beans for dinner.

Tonight I might end up snacking on a hot chocolate before bed, because I am still hungry after just eating. I think it’s because it’s cold.. winter makes it so hard!

Farewell, Holidays

20 minute jog = 2.6kms covered = 1.6miles straight
30 minute walk = 3.2kms covered = 2miles straight

Total = 50 minutes exercise = 5.8kms covered = 3.6miles total.

Yesterday’s food – bowl of weetbix, banana sandwich, hot chocolate, white tea, orange juice, chicken w/ rice and beans.

Today’s food – 2 pieces of toast, lean cuisine pasta lunch bowl, dinner = ?? (Not THAT keen, it’s only 1pm!)

Back to work tomorrow – hopefully back to routine – hopefully not too big of a gain tomorrow. *sigh* Wish me luck, yes?

Bugger.

I just had a whole post written here, and it was deleted by a stupid page non-loading error. GRR. Makes me so cranky.

Anyway. Today’s exercise – 5 minutes of crunches, 5 minutes walking, 5 minutes jogging, 5 minutes walking, 5 minutes jogging, 5 minutes walking, 5 minutes FAST walking. Not too shabby for my “in between” day.

I had pumpkin soup yesterday for lunch with a damper roll, yummy. Followed that sharing a lemon meringue pie slice with mum, which was absolute heaven — but worked into my “points” for the day, which was great. For dinner, I went to Jason’s. His mum cooked veal with steamed potato, carrot, pumpkin and zucchini. =)

I splurged and spent over $100 on Turbo Jam. It should be here within the next 10 days, so keep your fingers crossed for me that it arrives soon. I’m looking forward to spicing up my walking/jogging programme, with some dancing and kicking and boxing across my lounge room like a loon. Ha! I’ll keep you updated more on that when it comes.

I have had a weird pain in my stomach for the past three days now. It’s like I’m incredibly bloated, but there’s no real reason for it. And not only do I look swollen, I feel heavier and I have a pain that goes with it. I’m hoping it’s just something that went along with this week’s “TOM” but it’s gone now, so hopefully the pain/bloat will go too.

Have a feeling that this Monday will show a gain, even though I’ve been doing better. Boo. Love weekends. Hate that they go so fast.

Kick Start!

Nothing like getting yourself out of a slump with a nice mid-morning exercise session. (Don’t you love holidays?)

20 minute jog = 2.6kms covered = 1.6miles straight
20 minute powerwalk
5 minute jog
5 minute walk

A 50 minute workout, where I managed to cover exactly 6kms or 3.72miles. I love jelly legs. I burned over 400 calories. Oh, and I’m thinking I’ll be making the plunge (and spending $100) to buy TurboJam.

(It’s a good thing I worked out, just found out we’re going out to lunch to celebrate my parents coming home safely!)

So-So.

Had a great day today – went out with a mate from work and saw Knocked Up (classic movie, LOVED it!) and had lunch and a nice long chat afterwards.. I’m very glad I went!

Lunch I ate a chicken schnitzel with salad and chips – ate a bit of everything so not SUPER good, but it was a splurge. As was the movie popcorn, hee. Good news is that I wore my skinny jeans again, and got complimented by said friend, which was good!

I’m feeling lazy and not doing any exercise today – figure I’ll do 45 minutes worth tomorrow to make up for it! Dare I say I’m looking forward to the routine that comes along with being back at work as of Monday? (I’ll be regretting I said that very, very soon, you watch.)

The Verdict

As of this morning’s weigh-in, I have gained exactly 1kg since the last official time I jumped on the scale. From a couple of unofficial peeps at the scale earlier this week, I know I was higher than this, so it’s good to see that getting on with things again has made a difference.

Nothing much to report … I will do some exercise later today (hopefully my brother and his girlfriend will go out, I hate jogging in front of people) and be as healthy as possible. Is drinking too much tea a bad thing? I love tea. It’s either green tea OR it’s normal tea w/ light milk, but I NEED my tea in winter. It’s like a drug. (And stops me from eating out the entire house, too.)

I’m going to be realistic – and aim to be 82kgs by my birthday.  That’s 2.2kgs in three weeks, might be achievable. Fingers crossed!
